So you have a few vacation days due to you and you are unsure of what to do on your vacation.

Why not consider taking a trip to Africa and experience a true African safari. With the multitude of African countries all offering safaris to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. Countries like Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa automatically spring to mind do to their numerous nature reserves as well as national parks.

Tanzania

The most popular and by far the most expensive parks in Tanzania are located in the northern regions; these include the likes of the Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire. The grasslands of the Serengetti are world renowned as they offer an unobstructed view of not only lion kills but also the migrating herds of Wilderbees and Zebra. If spotting elephants are more in line with your idea of a safari then a stop at the Tarangire reserve is a must. The western part of Tanzania is famous for the Gombe Stream nature reserve. The reason for this is that it is in this nature reserve that Jane Goodall studied and highlighted the close relationship between chimpanzees and humans. The Mahale Mountains national reserve is another well known reserve for the preservation of chimpanzees and other primates. For the more extreme adventurer a safari at the Kavati National Park would be up your alley as it can only be reached via light aircraft due to the extreme remoteness of the reserve.

South Africa

This diverse country is a treasure trove of diverse wildlife situated at the southern tip of the African continent. Considered to be the economic leader on the continent you can be assured that five star treatments will be the name of the game. There are many national parks as well as privately owned reserves scattered across this beautiful country. The most prestigious and largest of the national parks has to be the Kruger National Park. The facilities available in the park cater for all types of tourist from those seeking a safari with five star luxuries to those who would prefer to commune with nature and sleep in a tent. The Kruger National Park safaris are world renowned and have seen many celebrities return annually to sample the very best of African wildlife and hospitality. The big five however are not the only safaris in South Africa that you can experience. You could explore the Knysna forest on horseback or if you are a bit more adventurous you could explore the beauty of this ancient forest while riding atop an elephant.

I would also recommend Kenya. I did a week long safari in Kenya several years ago and it was the most amazing experience ever! They have some wonderful national parks there.
